On November 7, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators
will bring together more than 35 North Texas authors and illustrators of books for children and teens
for area librarians, educators and booklovers to meet.


~ Participate in 10 magical programs.

~ Explore illustration demonstrations and programs to celebrate art and reading at your school or library.

~ Purchase original art and books and have the books signed.

~ Be a part of the magic from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (come and go) at Event1013, 1013 E. 15th Street, Plano, Texas.

~ Exhibits and book store open throughout the event.

~ Registration is open through Friday for this free event.


Brought to you by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, North Texas chapter, this event will connect educators and librarians with book creators – all with the common goal to promote literature, art and reading.

10-10:40 a.m. Young Adult/Middle Grade Novel Panel Discussion with

11-11:40 a.m. Picture Book Panel Discussion with illustrators AG Ford and Terry Widener,

11:45 a.m.-12:25 p.m. Live Readings and Demonstrations from Glo Jenkins Brown, Muffet Frische, Jaclyn Kruzie,

12:45-1:45 p.m. Speed-dating Style Q&A where you can interact directly with authors and illustrators with

~ These talented North Texas authors and illustrators visit area schools and libraries for readings, illustration demonstrations and programs to help celebrate reading. Programs are targeted to kindergarten through high school, depending on the individual.

Meet potential guest speakers who will inspire
art, literature and reading for your library and school programs.

Each local author and illustrator strives to provide curriculum tie-ins and useful materials for
educators to target grade-level appropriate learning.

These authors and illustrators are local to North Texas –
within easy travel distance to any North Texas geographical location.


During this Children and Teen Literary Showcase and Gallery Show featuring North Texas authors and illustrators, you can purchase books for children and teens and have them signed as well as purchase original art.

~ Any booklover is welcome! There will be an onsite book and art shop where you can buy local and connect with authors and illustrators of books for children and teens.

The event is easy to access by DART Rail’s Downtown Plano Station or car. It’s at Event1013, 1013 E. 15th Street in Old Downtown Plano. Visit the Historic Plano website for information on parking.

Each author and illustrator is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, a non-profit organization with the mission to support the creation and availability of quality children’s books around the world. SCBWI is the only professional organization specifically for those who write and illustrate for children and young adults.

SCBWI and its North Texas chapter members support North Texas librarians and educators with valuable classroom resources and inspiration. The SCBWI North Texas chapter has 335 members from 35 counties and 91 cities and towns across North Texas – from Amarillo to Athens and Lubbock to Longview. The SCBWI North Texas chapter includes well-known authors and illustrators Karen Blumenthal, AG Ford, Polly Holyoke, Janee Trasler, Terry Widener, and many more. Most will participate in the event.
