Diversity Critique Opportunity!

Cynthia Leitich Smith is pleased to offer critiques to registered Diversity Done Right workshop participants.  You must be registered to attend her workshop on March 19 in order to be eligible for this critique opportunity. Register HERE

About Cynthia:

cynthia_leitich_smith_author_photo_bib_necklaceCynthia Leitich Smith is the acclaimed New York Times bestselling YA author of the Tantalize series, the Feral trilogy, and award-winning books for younger children such as Jingle Dancer, Indian Shoes, and Rain Is Not My Indian Name. She’s also well published in the short story, her writing recently appearing in Things I’ll Never Say: Stories of Our Secret Selves and Violent Ends. Cynthia makes her home in Austin, Texas; and teaches on the MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults faculty at Vermont College of Fine Arts.

 

What she is offering:

-Written critiques for 15-pages of a manuscript, plus a half-page synopsis with a diversity element

AND/OR

-30 minute phone consultations (This option will allow you to submit a brief synopsis (with an excerpt as needed to illustrate) and two or three big questions you’d like to ask Cynthia about your manuscript. No more than 2 pages total.)

–  You may purchase one critique and/or one phone consultation. The critique must be paid in full by April 1, at 5:00 p.m. The fee will be $55 for members and $70 for guests per selection.

–  Manuscript submissions will be accepted between April 2-9, at 5:00 p.m. (Two weeks after the workshop to allow you time for revisions.) You will receive Cynthia's feedback by email within three weeks.

–  Immediately following Cynthia's workshop, you will receive an email with submission guidelines.

–  Only manuscripts with a diversity element will be accepted. Cynthia considers diverse elements to line up with the We Need Diverse Books definition listed HERE.

–  Select the critique option below to reserve your critique. Your March 19 workshop registration and critique must be paid in full to reserve your place.

Again, you must be registered and paid in full for Cynthia's March 19 workshop to take advantage of this opportunity. Go HERE to register for the event. Then, you may come back to register for a critique.

There are no refunds associated with critiques. If you register for a critique, and you are not registered for the March 19 workshop, you will not receive a critique or a refund. It is up to you to make sure you are registered for the March 19 event before you register for a critique. You can do this by: Logging into your member account and clicking on the March 19 event. If you are registered, you will see a message near the bottom of the event that says: "You are currently attending this event." You must be logged into you member account in order to see this message.
