Come join us for an overview of the agent/author or illustrator relationship and a Q&A with agent Sean McCarthy. A recording will be available for 2 weeks afterwards to everyone that registers for the webinar, so don’t worry if you can’t make it live!

Sean is also offering 10 critique opportunities for webinar attendees.  Critique guidelines are as follows:

One (1) full picture book manuscript or dummy (max 1000 words).

First 10 pages and 1-page synopsis of MG or YA manuscripts (double-spaced, regular size 12 font/spacing).

Sorry, no portfolio-only critiques.

Limit 1 critique per attendee.

Critiqued manuscripts/dummies will be returned no later than 1 week after the webinar. Critique will consist of an editorial-style letter and will cover most of the topics in the Gold Form.

Further instructions for critique submissions will be emailed to you after sign-up. Please note: critique materials are due August 9th, 2019.

About Sean

Sean McCarthy founded his own full-service literary agency in 2013. He began his publishing career as an editorial intern at Overlook Press and then worked at the Sheldon Fogelman Agency as the submissions coordinator and permissions manager before becoming a full-time literary agent. His clients include New York Times Bestseller Zachariah OHora, Hyewon Yum, Mark Fearing, Dana Wulfekotte, Heather Ayris Burnell, and Kurt Cyrus, among others. Sean graduated from Macalester College with a degree in English-Creative Writing, and is grateful that he no longer has to spend his winters in Minnesota.
